The stunning gothic architecture of Prague Castle is illuminated by night, standing like a beacon over the city; Praha, Czech Republic

Dating back to the 9th century, the Prague Castle in Prague, Czech Republic is the largest ancient castle in the world, and attracts almost 2 million visitors each year. Extensively damaged by fire in 1541, the castle has undergone major renovation & rebuilding several times throughout its long history, as is reflected in the wide-range of architectural styles seen in the castle’s buildings, ranging from Gothic, to Mannerist, to Renaissance architecture.

Also known as the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the See, the Roman Catholic cathedral in Seville is the largest cathedral in the world. Taking over 100 years to build, it was completed in 1528 and houses 80 chapels, and a central nave that runs 60m long and 42m high (the rib vaulting of which is pictured here). It also serves as the burial site of Christopher Columbus.
