Ice guards line the Charles Bridge on the way into Old Town Praha; Prague, Czech Republic

Named after King Charles IV, the iconic Charles Bridge is a 2,037ft long pedestrian bridge that dates back to 1402. In branching the Vltava River to connect Prague’s Old Town to the land by Prague Castle, it made Prague an important trade route between Eastern and Western Europe. Lining the bridge, one will find 30 baroque statues that were originally constructed in the 18th century. Today, it remains a popular attraction for tourists, street vendors, and naturally: the occasional pick-pocket.
