Construction crews are working on final preparations for the demolition of the iconic Memorial Bridge in downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire.\u00a0 The original demolition was planned for this evening before midnight, but it has been delayed until Tuesday, February 7th and will take place during daylight.<\/p>\n

The two million-pound truss lift will be disconnected and floated down the Piscataqua River on the pictured barge.\u00a0 The $81.4 million bridge replacement project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2013.<\/p>\n

Built in 1923, the Memorial Bridge was dedicated as a World War I memorial, and spans between Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Kittery, Maine.<\/p>\n
