I&#8217;m sure it was just the one town I stopped in, but the few people I talked to all had different &#8212; seemingly foreign &#8212; accents, yet claimed to be locals. \u00a0The fact that one of them sounded like Crocodile Dundee yet said he lived in the town his whole life was very unexpected. \u00a0The town itself was also a mix between cheap boardwalk arcade and wild west ghost town. \u00a0The landscape, however, was amazing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/20100915-_DSC2000.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-964\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/20100915-_DSC2000-640x425.jpg\" alt=\"Traveling at Sunset\" width=\"640\" height=\"425\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/pictures\/2010\/09\/20100915-_DSC2000-640x425.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/pictures\/2010\/09\/20100915-_DSC2000-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/pictures\/2010\/09\/20100915-_DSC2000.jpg 986w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"line-height: 24px;\"><!--more--><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p>I spent most of the day traveling through Idaho, which was quite similar to Montana &#8211; absolutely beautiful but not much else to see. \u00a0While most of the state seemed to just be one big farm in the constant state of being watered, I did come across the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.go-idaho.com\/Idaho-Potato-Museum\/\">Idaho Potato Museum<\/a>. \u00a0To summarize: &#8220;The Idaho Potato Museum provides a complete information on potato history&#8230;trivia and educational potato facts. \u00a0You can also view the world&#8217;s largest potato chip&#8230;Gift Shop offers almost any potato gift imaginable including potato ice cream, potato fudge, t-shirts, and, of course, fresh Idaho potatoes. \u00a0Admission includes a free potato gift.&#8221; \u00a0I didn&#8217;t take the tour despite the potato ice cream.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/20100915-_DSC1989.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-962\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/20100915-_DSC1989-640x425.jpg\" alt=\"Fields of Idaho\" width=\"640\" height=\"425\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/pictures\/2010\/09\/20100915-_DSC1989-640x425.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/pictures\/2010\/09\/20100915-_DSC1989-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/pictures\/2010\/09\/20100915-_DSC1989.jpg 986w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/20100915-_DSC1986.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-2\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-961\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/20100915-_DSC1986-640x425.jpg\" alt=\"Fields of Idaho\" width=\"640\" height=\"425\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/pictures\/2010\/09\/20100915-_DSC1986-640x425.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/pictures\/2010\/09\/20100915-_DSC1986-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/pictures\/2010\/09\/20100915-_DSC1986.jpg 986w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Given all the backroads, naturally I seized the opportunity to finally take the rental car off-road. \u00a0It handled poorly. \u00a0Very poorly, in fact, maintaining little traction and not having good enough suspension for even the smallest of jumps. \u00a0I&#8217;m exaggerating. \u00a0But only a little.<\/p>\n<p>Also, for the first time in my life, I found myself welcoming the influx of insects I had encountered since heading north from Utah. \u00a0See, early on in the trip I had chipped my windshield while attempting to maximize my gas\u00a0efficiency\u00a0by minimizing my life expectancy and drafting-off an 18-wheeler. \u00a0I had spent much of the last couple of days trying to figure out how to cover up that crack so I wouldn&#8217;t have to pay to fix the windshield. \u00a0The insects gave me the perfect (and cheap) solution. \u00a0My rule of thumb: any time you hit a bug, turn on the windshield wipers. \u00a0By the time I left Idaho, my windshield was a smear of thick paste and remarkably difficult to see out of.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;
