{"id":2657,"date":"2011-01-01T09:29:23","date_gmt":"2011-01-01T13:29:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/blog\/?p=2657"},"modified":"2011-01-09T15:39:32","modified_gmt":"2011-01-09T19:39:32","slug":"tarnished-a-portrait","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/2657\/tarnished-a-portrait","title":{"rendered":"Tarnished; A Portrait"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/pictures\/2011\/01\/20101231-_DSC7083_2.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2672\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/pictures\/2011\/01\/20101231-_DSC7083_2-640x480.jpg\" alt=\"Tarnished; A Portrait, Black-and-White\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/pictures\/2011\/01\/20101231-_DSC7083_2-640x480.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/pictures\/2011\/01\/20101231-_DSC7083_2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mbuchholz.com\/photoblog\/pictures\/2011\/01\/20101231-_DSC7083_2.jpg 860w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You aren&#8217;t going to stop posting your photography after Day 365\/365, are you?&#8221; is a question I found myself often asked as the end of the year approached. \u00a0Well, I guess that requires a bit of an explanation&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Despite my best efforts otherwise, I still did post a shot-of-the-day for the full-year in 2010. \u00a0While doing a shot-a-day demands creativity to keep your work from going stale, it also seems to force me to sacrifice a bit; a question I found myself repeatedly asking while staring at two pictures would be, &#8220;What if you need a fall-back subject to photograph in the future?&#8221; \u00a0In the end I would always keep shots to myself to save the ability to re-shoot them in the future if I was struggling to find something to post. \u00a0Furthermore, in my rush to get something posted, I would often later find that I didn&#8217;t even post my best shot on the given day in the first place; going back through the past year in photography, anyone with a sharp memory will notice that I\u00a0occasionally\u00a0supplemented a given post with additional pictures to do justice to my work on that day.<\/p>\n<p>Going forward, I hope to change this approach, skipping days when life gets in the way, but sharing multiple posts on days when the photography or stories warrant it. \u00a0Furthermore, I plan to relax my timeframe to post a given shot, so it will become increasingly common to see lost shots posted from my library that were from weeks or months prior. \u00a0I anticipate this leading to higher-quality work and more variety. \u00a0But enough talk.
